Latest – man arrested on St. Stephen’s Church Roof
Following the recent spate of roofing-lead thefts from the church, Fr Christopher Colledge of his own initiative, but after consulting with the Police, decided to watch St Stephen’s through the night on Thursday 10th May, accompanied by a Neighbourhood Watch colleague.
At around 2am on Friday, they spotted a man accessing the south aisle roof and called the Police. In view of the height the Fire Service was also called. As a result a hooded white man was arrested on the roof and is now in Police custody. This is great news and our immense gratitude is extended to Fr Christopher.
