St. Stephen’s Church

St. Stephen’s Church was built in 1880 and can be found on St. Stephen’s Way, just across the road from Bournemouth Town Hall. The church was designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson.

The church has an active devotional life, and encourages regular members to adhere to a calendar of events such as Holy Week Liturgy, Advent through to Candlemass and The Week of Salvation.

St. Stephen’s Church Halls are conveniently situated in central Bournemouth on the opposite side of the road to the church in St. Stephen’s Way.

There are two halls available for hire to groups or other members of the community. It is regularly used by Dance, Choir and various fellowship groups, as well by the church itself for social events.

The large main hall has a sprung wooden floor, and can seat 200 people or 100 diners. A smaller hall is also available and this can accommodate 30 people. There is a large, newly refurbished and equipped kitchen also available to use.

The halls are available for booking, and anyone interested in obtaining further details or viewing the halls should contact the Parish Office in the first instance.

St. Stephen’s benefits from being centrally located and as a result has great appeal owing to its accessibility and picturesque setting. The churchmanship here  follows an Anglo-Catholic tradition that has continued since the church’s  construction over 100 years ago. Musically, the church maintains a choir made up of 20-25 singers with a wide and varied repertoire. The church as a whole is firmly committed to being a presence in the local community and welcomes people interested in the life of the congregation and the church building alike.
