Music at St. Peter’s

    A Choral Tradition

St. Peter’s Church maintains a choral tradition as an important part of its ministry. The choir leads the music at two choral services each Sunday. Adult altos, tenors and basses sing with the trebles at each service.

    Choristers at Christmas 2012

Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings, with girls and boys rehearsing between 5:30 and 7:15pm, and adults between 6:30 and 8pm.

We welcome boys and girls aged 7-18 who are enthusiastic about singing, and parents can contact the Director of Music to arrange a visit and informal audition.

During choir holidays, the St. Peter’s Singers, an adult voluntary choir, sing the normal choral services. The St. Peter’s Singers rehearse once a month on Sunday evening at 5pm.

The music department is run by:

    Director of Music:  Duncan Courts
Assistant Director of Music: Neil Sissons
    Organ Scholar: James Bain

    Recitals and Concerts

There is a lunchtime recital every Wednesday at 1.15pm between Easter and Christmas, and we have welcomed a wide variety of different instrumentalists and singers since the series began in 1972. Admission is free. Details are available from the Parish Administrator or on the Lunchtime Recitals page.
